KAREN CHAN

A single passage, a muffled culture. 

A cultural conflict with one’s own identity. I seek in a resolution with my own identity as a Chinese ethnic. The passage of time and the passing of era had blurred the lines of orientalism and strayed me far from my Chinese roots. Influenced over time by the western culture, what with the enormous amount of exposure imposed on us through the development of technology, with an infinite amount of information literally right in the palm of our hands. The western culture and the eastern influences have sapped together creating a hybrid of the two. This series implores into my understanding of this culture which is so familiar to me in speech and at heart, yet still finding it so difficult to relate too.
